Introduction

In a world inundated with casual mobile games, Soul Armour brings a hardcore gaming experience right into the palms of your hands. Developed by Petricor Team, composed of Juan Luis Morales, Ivan Bianchi, and myself, Jordi Casadevall, Soul Armour is an Android game that aims to captivate gamers searching for a more substantive experience on their phones.

Project Soul Armor is an android mobile phone game that offers a different experience to phone gamers that are used to gacha and casual games by calling in the hardcore audience that searches for a deeper experience while keeping the good parts from those games. It is a niche game that appeals to a semi hardcore audience that wants a “realer” gaming experience. 

The game is set on a world that suffered a great war and is currently recovering. The aftermath of that war left the world absent of magic and populated with ancient gigantic constructs of war that threaten humanity. To face off this threat, humans with special affinity towards these armors must control them to fight for humanity.

The gameplay takes the form of a classic tactical turn based rpg but brings a twist in form of “reaction” turns. The player can take a “reaction” skill in the enemy turn, which is a skill that activates when certain trigger occurs. This feature allows turns to be simultaneous and dynamic, never leaving the player with the feeling of having to wait or not having agency over the action. The levels are divided between armor combat, player combat and exploration, an unusual variety for a mobile game.

From a marketing point of view, the uniqueness of gameplay and visuals will attract a hardcore audience searching for a new experience. Monetization takes the shape of rewarded videos, which act as a positive reinforcement rather than a nuisance to get rid of.
